Clare Thornton-wood
I am an experienced Registered Dietitian (RD) with a specialist interest in paediatric nutrition. Contact me for a free initial discussion, to see how I might help you or visit my website for further details of my practice. I hold clinics in a number of locations; beautiful clinic rooms in Central Guildford, rural West Sussex and can also offer home visits or consultations via Zoom.
Alongside my private practice, I work at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a paediatric dietitian in the feeding and eating disorders team, having previously worked locally for the NHS in multidisciplinary allergy and diabetes clinics, and also at a boarding school for children with severe epilepsy and autism.
I graduated from the University of Surrey with a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics and I am a Registered Dietitian (RD). After a period in adult dietetics I have undertaken additional training in paediatrics, taking two MSc Modules in Paediatric Dietetics at the University of Plymouth.
I have undertaken additional training in a number of areas, including autistic spectrum disorder/ADHD, allergy, neurodisability, coeliac disease, diabetes, eating disorders and weight management. Clinical practice is constantly evolving and I regularly attend study days, meetings and conferences to keep my practice up to date. I am a regular contributor to articles in the press and online in my role as a BDA media spokesperson. I have also written for a number of trade publications and undertaken recipe analysis and worked with small companies to develop new recipes. I also act as an expert witness in cases requiring dietetic reports.
When not working, I am a wife, mother of three children and a keen musician, performing in a number of local orchestras and choirs. I also love to cycle and of course cook, invent and adapt recipes and eat!
