Emily Jackson
Emily is a UK advanced specialist dietitian registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and member of the British Dietetic Association.
In 2001 Emily graduated with a first class honours degree in Physical Education and Sports Science BSc from Loughborough University. Emily enjoyed the sports nutrition aspects of her first degree and chose to further her studies with a post graduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics at Leeds Metropolitan University. Emily graduated and began working as a NHS dietitian in 2005.
Emily has 19 years experience working in the NHS. Currently Emily leads the diabetes specialist dietetic service within her current NHS role, and has worked at this service since 2012. Within this role Emily specialises in providing diabetes advice and education to patients with type 1, type 2 and type 3c diabetes. Emily also provides care to women during pregnancy with pre-existing diabetes and gestational diabetes. She is the diabetes technology lead for the dietetic team, specialising in glucose sensor technology and insulin pump therapy.
Emily provides diabetes education both to individuals and in group settings. She supports and empowers her patients to reach their health goals. Emily is trained in behaviour change strategies and helps her patients make positive steps to overcome any barriers to change.
Prior to her current role Emily worked in community based dietetics for 7 years. This employment encompassed a wide variety of specialist areas of dietetics including obesity and weight management, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular health, nutrition support, and elderly medicine.
