The BDA General and Education Trust Fund (GET) is once again offering funding for two places on the Leadership for Allied Health Professions short course, run through the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
This is an excellent opportunity for a Dietitian who has had some management or team leader responsibility and wishes to develop their leadership skills to move towards a more senior position within the NHS, or similar organisation.
The Leadership Development Programme is tailored specifically for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). Running since 2017, former participants surveyed noted skill development, increased knowledge and confidence, networking opportunities and improved career prospects.
The GET is providing funding for two places in 2024/25, in order to provide opportunities to further develop future leaders within the dietetic profession. This fits in with our commitment to supporting professional leadership for dietitians and promoting AHP Directors, to maximise the contribution of dietitians and other allied health professions to improving health outcomes.
Deadline for applications is midday on Monday 24 June 2024.
The programme is run over one semester, delivered using a variety of stimulating, engaging and interactive learning methods to help develop your leadership skills.
The programme is run by The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) but is primarily online, with one two-day residential in Wales.
Further details on the course can be found here.

Applicants should read the information above and complete the application form and return to the BDA at [email protected] by midday on 24 June 2024.
The GET Trustees will appoint a review panel, who will meet at the end of July to decide upon the two successful candidates. Applications will be assessed on the ability of the candidate to provide leadership to dietitians and other AHPs to enable them to lead advancement in the science and practice of dietetics.
The reviewers’ views are confidential, as is the whole process. The decision on the successful applicants will be a decision for the Trustees alone.
The timing of the process is to enable successful applicants to attend the course starting in September 2024.
All recipients of GET funding are expected to report back to the Trustees on how the grant has been used to advance dietetics. Applicants will be asked to confirm that, if successful, they will complete questionnaires over the next two years and agree to feedback on the benefit of the programme to others.
