2021 Research Symposium showcases new dietetic research

Nearly 200 people attended this year's virtual Research Symposium, which took place today (Wednesday 8 December).

Dietitians, dietetic students and researchers showcased their research through 11 different streams, with 60 abstracts being presented throughout the day.

Dr Miranda Lomer PhD RD, Senior Consultant Dietitian in Gastroenterology, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, gave a fantastic presentation on Diet and gastroenterology: how clinical practice influences research and vice versa. Miranda covered how research and clinical practice are very closely intertwined and have formed the basis of her career in diet and gastroenterology.

Dr Danielle Bear, Principal Critical Care Dietitian, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust provided a fantastic and inspiring overview covering the challenges and rewards of research in a talk on her research career to date.
