The BDA Trade Union is comprised of thousands upon thousands of BDA members from across the dietetic workforce. The way in which a majority of those members have their interest looked after is via our BDA Trade Union Representatives.
Being a BDA Trade Union Rep is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. It is about being a point of contact in the workplace for identifying issues and then in turn resolving those issues. We ensure that our reps have the tools to do just that through a free BDA specific training and qualification process.
It’s an important time to be an active part of the trade union movement. The health service is under increasing financial pressure and it is through the coordinated and determined action of unionised health workers that governments may be held to account to invest properly in its people. It was through the work of BDA reps in Northern Ireland that members were able to take strike action.
In addition to nationwide issues BDA Trade Union Reps also assist members with resolving individual cases that arise at work. Being a rep is a great way to support the colleagues you work alongside each and every day.
We want to ensure that our BDA Trade Union Reps are reflective of our membership. We keenly encourage members of the Dietetic Support Workforce to step forward and become a BDA Trade Union Rep. We recognise that in order to be a truly representative body we need to recruit reps from across the different strands of those who work in dietetics.
