Miranda Lomer has received the Professional Achievement honour in recognition of outstanding personal commitment and exceptional contributions in the field of gastroenterology dietetics.

The BDA Awards and Honours for 2023/24 were presented to the most deserving members of the dietetic workforce at Birmingham’s prestigious Council House this week. The event brought together the great and the good and was the perfect setting for an afternoon of celebrating and networking.

Professor Simon Langley-Evans has received the Honorary Associate honour, in recognition of his outstanding personal commitment to education, research and publishing in nutrition and dietetics.

Dr Barbara Engel has received a Fellowship, in recognition of her outstanding personal commitment as Chair, Vice-chair and Post Registration lead of the BDA Renal Nutrition Specialist Group (RNG) and achievements in the field of Chronic Kidney Disease.

Nicki Ruddock received an Ibex in 2024 in recognition of her personal commitment and significant contribution as a member of the BDA Renal Nutrition Specialist Group, and achievements in the field of renal dietetics.

Lisa Cooke is the Head of Paediatric Dietetics, Nutrition and SaLT at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust (UHBW).

A new practice-based learning programme (PBL) that introduces students to a hospital setting early on in their degrees has received the prestigious Dame Barbara Clayton Award from the BDA General and Education Trust.

The BDA is a finalist at this year’s Memcom Excellence Awards and the Association Excellence Awards, in no less than four categories!

Andy Burman, who retires as the BDA’s CEO this summer, has been awarded an International Academy of Nutrition Educators Outstanding Achievement Award for contributions to the field of nutrition education.

Lauren is currently the Head of Patient Food Service for ISS UK and Chair of the Food Services Specialist Group. She received an Ibex Award in 2022.

Ruth Wood-Martin has worked as a dietitian since 1983. Now retired, she has worked in a range of settings including the NHS and in sports dietetics. She received the Ibex in 2022.
