Andy Burman, who retires as the BDA’s CEO this summer, has been awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award by the International Academy of Nutrition Educators (IANE), which is the awarding body of the NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health. The accolade is in recognition of Andy’s outstanding work and contributions that have impacted the field of nutrition education.
Andy said, “I am absolutely delighted to have received the Outstanding Achievement award this year. The Academy’s work is absolutely vital and having been involved in nutrition and dietetic education for nearly 20 years, I feel very close to the subject and very passionate that the quality of education and nutrition training available to healthcare professionals and more widely needs to be of the highest quality.
“The work of the Academy is crucial and I am overwhelmed by the fact that you have granted this award to me this year. Thank you very much indeed.”
The award recognises the significant role Andy has played for 19 years as the CEO of the BDA.
During Andy’s time at the BDA, he has made an invaluable contribution to the dietetic profession and to the BDA overall. He has been instrumental in providing advice to other professional bodies and representing their interests to all UK governments.
Andy has also provided immeasurable mentoring, support, guidance and strategic advice to NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health, which has helped the organisation to reach new heights.
Caroline Bovey, Chair of the BDA, received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2021 for her commitment to public health and championing the dietetic profession.
