Join the new Forensic Dietitians Specialist Sub-Group

7 October 2024

We are delighted to welcome our brand-new sub-group of the Mental Health Specialist Group, the Forensic Dietitians Specialist Sub-Group!

About the group

Forensic dietitians work in secure units, community forensic services and prisons, providing interventions for individuals with mental health diagnoses who have had contact with the police or prison service.

This is a highly specialised and complex field of practice that often supports individuals who have experienced nutrition-related trauma, which refers to the psychological and emotional effects that food and eating habits can have as a result of past experiences.

The sub-group aims to support dietitians in this field by offering networking opportunities, education, and valuable resources.

The committee is excited to get started, with a varied programme of activities planned for sub-group members, and looks forward to welcoming you to the community.
