New pay offer for the dietetic workforce in Health and Social Care Northern Ireland

7 March 2024

Members working in Health and Social Care Northern Ireland are now being consulted on the latest pay offer made by the Northern Ireland Assembly.

This improved offer follows successful industrial taken by BDA members on 18 January, which was the first time that BDA members have taken strike action based on pay.

As a result of the action by thousands of public sector workers, the Northern Ireland Assembly reconvened and following negotiations with health unions, a new offer was received.

The BDA Northern Ireland industrial relations committee met on 4 March and discussed the offer and are now recommending that members accept it, as the best achievable by negotiation.

It is important to note that if the offer is rejected by members, then the only option left to the BDA Trade Union would be further industrial action, which is never something that should be undertaken lightly.

We know that members have been waiting for a long time to receive what is due to them and hope that this consultation can now allow us to move forwards in achieving a decent pay settlement for 2024/25.

It is really important that as many members in Northern Ireland take part in the consultation as possible to give a clear mandate on whether or not to accept. The consultation on the offer is now open and members have been emailed.

The full details of the pay offer are available here.
