Disciplinary

What is a disciplinary?

A disciplinary is a formal process undertaken by an employer to address and employee’s conduct or performance that may be unacceptable or in breach of the employer’s policies. There may be concerns about the employee’s work, conduct or absence.

The purpose of a disciplinary process is to ensure that employees are aware of the standards expected of them and to provide a fair and structured method of dealing with breaches of standards. This will include a disciplinary hearing where the employee is given a chance to explain their side of the story. There will also be a chance to appeal any disciplinary action taken by the employer.

The disciplinary process aims to be fair and transparent, giving employees the opportunity to improve and correct their behaviour while maintaining workplace standards and discipline.

In the unlikely event that you are called to a disciplinary meeting please contact your BDA representative.
